I spent a large portion of my life feeling like it was my duty to at least feign interest when some guy paid attention to me. Like I'd done something to incur his interest. Like I had a duty to be nice to him, and even (I hate to admit) date him.
It took years for me to overcome this feeling, and I always thought it was just me and my own weird neurosis and insecurities.
It's heartening to know it wasn't just me, and that there are indeed men out there who think it is the woman's "duty" to date men, if the men think they are attractive. (or go out for coffee with them sight unseen, same thing)
I'm so glad I'm over that neurotic insecurity.
And I'm so glad I never meet someone without getting their picture first.
It saves me from meeting men that would probably land me in jail, because I'd have to kill them when I met them.
